Welcome to 404 Department.

We make shirts for unstable systems, but shipping still has to obey the laws of time, production, carriers, addresses, and whatever else the universe decides to compile that day.

This Shipping Policy explains how orders are processed, produced, shipped, and delivered when you order from 404department.com.

2. How fulfillment works

404 Department uses print-on-demand fulfillment partners, including Printify and its connected print providers, to produce and ship products.

This means many items are made after an order is placed. Your shirt is not sitting in a warehouse judging you. It is produced, packed, and shipped after checkout.

Because production and shipping are handled through fulfillment partners, timing may vary depending on the product, print provider, shipping destination, order volume, carrier delays, and other factors outside our direct control.

3. Processing and production time

After your order is placed, it goes through processing and production.

Most print-on-demand orders are typically produced and shipped within 2–7 business days after the order is submitted, but this is an estimate, not a guarantee.

Production time may be affected by:

  • Product availability

  • Print provider workload

  • Order size

  • Seasonal volume

  • Holidays

  • Quality checks

  • Technical or fulfillment issues

Business days usually do not include weekends or holidays.

4. Shipping times

Shipping time starts after your order has been produced and handed to the carrier.

Shipping times vary based on:

  • Destination

  • Shipping method

  • Carrier

  • Print provider location

  • Weather

  • Holidays

  • Local delivery delays

  • Address issues

Any estimated delivery date shown at checkout is an estimate, not a guaranteed arrival date.

5. Shipping costs

Shipping costs are calculated based on the product, shipping destination, shipping method, and fulfillment provider.

Because 404 Department uses Printify and related print providers, shipping rates may vary depending on the item ordered and where it is being shipped.

Shipping costs will be shown at checkout before you complete your order.

6. Tracking information

When tracking is available, you will receive tracking information after your order ships.

Please allow time for tracking updates to appear after the carrier receives the package. Sometimes tracking looks frozen for a bit. That does not always mean your order is lost. Sometimes the system is just buffering.

7. Incorrect shipping information

Please make sure your shipping address is correct before placing your order.

404 Department is not responsible for orders delayed, lost, returned, or delivered incorrectly because of an incorrect or incomplete shipping address provided at checkout.

If you notice an address mistake, contact us as soon as possible at:

We cannot guarantee that an address can be changed after an order has been placed, especially once production or shipping has started.

8. Lost, delayed, or missing packages

Once an order is handed to the shipping carrier, delivery timing is mostly controlled by the carrier.

If your order appears delayed, missing, or marked as delivered but not received, please:

  • Check the tracking information

  • Check around your delivery location

  • Ask household members, neighbors, building staff, or mailroom staff

  • Contact the shipping carrier when appropriate

We will review the issue and help where we reasonably can, but we cannot guarantee refunds or replacements for packages lost due to incorrect addresses, carrier issues, theft, or delivery problems outside our control.

9. Damaged or incorrect items

If your item arrives damaged, misprinted, defective, or incorrect, contact us as soon as possible at:

  • A description of the issue

  • Clear photos of the item and packaging, if applicable

We will review the issue and determine whether a replacement, refund, store credit, or other solution is appropriate.

10. Multiple items in one order

If you order multiple items, they may ship separately depending on the product, print provider, production timing, and shipping location.

This means you may receive more than one package for the same order.

Do not panic if one shirt arrives before another. The rest may still be in transit.

11. International shipping

International shipping availability may vary depending on the product, fulfillment provider, and destination.

International orders may be subject to customs fees, duties, import taxes, or other charges set by the destination country.

404 Department is not responsible for customs fees, duties, import taxes, carrier brokerage fees, or delays caused by customs.

Customers are responsible for understanding and paying any customs or import charges required by their country.

12. Shipping restrictions

Some products may not be available to ship to every country, region, military address, P.O. box, or restricted destination.

If an order cannot be shipped because of fulfillment or carrier restrictions, we may contact you, cancel the order, issue a refund, or offer another solution.

13. Order changes and cancellations

Because many items are made to order, order changes or cancellations may not be possible after the order has been submitted for production.
